India's Future - Elephant vs. Dragon

I happen to read this article written by Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri

You guessed it right. It’s about the Indian economy and the competition with China.

A Fight of Elephant vs. Dragon.

In the article, the author says democracy is our greatest strength, I feel it can well become our biggest let down.

Yes, democracy will be the biggest strength of a country not when we have political parties run by communal fundamentalists, or by generations of a single political dynasty, not when we have a foreigner running the government behind the screens and our so called prime minister acting as a puppet.

Yes, we do have democracy but we don't have inner democracy within each political party. The current political parties that we have are communal, or either communist, or corrupt, or run by family dynasties, or based on caste-ist politics. When will our political parties rise above these partisan politics based on caste, religion, family..? Will we ever get to see such a political party ?

Coming to the point of robust Indian economy, the effect of such a positive economy should be felt by the masses, not just by the classes. India should shine for one and all, only then we can say truly say India has achieved "super stardom" (as the author puts it).

For this to happen we need a political party which can capture the essence of the whole nation. When the politicians are not bothered to review the reservation policy and are ready to mediocre the future by undermining the meritorious with reservation, we cannot expect much from them.

In the recent Indian politics, a party called LOKSATTA has come into existence. It is a party founded by former IITians. I sincerely hope they know that their political party is India’s last resort.

Will they rise to the expectations of a billion people. Only time can answer.
